The Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association (CIASA) contracted with Counsilman-Hunsaker to provide an aquatic operational study for the proposed CIASA Aquatic Centre. The Aquatic Centre will consist of a covered, outdoor 50-meter by 25-meter all-deep competition pool with a separate 10-lane, 25-meter shallow water pool. The primary uses of the competition pool will be for competitive swimming (community, national, international), artistic swimming, water polo, and open water training. The focus of the shallow pool will be on swimming lessons and to support the 50-meter pool during competitive events allowing for warm-up and cool-down lanes.
For non-local use, the Aquatic Centre aims to be a destination aquatic facility for sports tourism by hosting international events, training camps, and other competitive events such as CARIFTA, CCCAN, Island Games and CIASA qualifying meets. Counsilman-Hunsaker developed a revenue and expense budget for the proposed facility that incorporated both local and non-local uses as well as the economic impact of winter training for collegiate swim and dive teams.
