Belmont High School is a four-year public school that's part of the Belmont Public School System. Their pool is used primarily for high school competitive swimming and dive training and meets as well as by outside competitive swim community groups. In 2019, Counsilman-Hunsaker provided an audit of the Higginbottom Pool and, after evaluating the existing facility and its respective mechanical systems, concluded that there were items in the pool that were substandard, not to current industry design standards, or not operating as designed. The report assisted in defining a course of action regarding the future of the aquatic facility.
After this initial consultation with Belmont Public Schools, Counsilman-Hunsaker was then retained for the renovation of the pool. The renovation of the existing 3,375 sq. ft., six lane 25 yard competition pool included the reinstallation of the existing mechanical equipment in new support spaces, new surge tank and below-grade piping, new perimeter overflow gutters, new interior plaster finish, new deck tile, and the replacement of the deck equipment including new starting blocks. The pool was part of an extensive renovation as part of the Belmont Middle and High Schools, along with bathrooms, showers, lockers, and both boys and girls changing facilities.
