Manhattan Aquatic Center

Manhattan, KS

VIEW ALL PROJECTS

The City of Manhattan, Kansas retained Anderson Knight Architects and Counsilman-Hunsaker to study a future indoor aquatic center in the City of Manhattan.

With the previous closing of the Kansas State University Natatorium, the City currently did not have a municipal or university aquatic center to support the local high school swim teams, year-round USA Swimming or aquatic instructional, fitness and recreational programs.

The study identified the capital and operational costs for three facility options with a 4,000 square foot community programming pool and lap pools that varied in size from 8-lanes, 14-lanes and 50-meters. Throughout the project the consultant team worked with the Manhattan City Council appointed project steering committee and held open meetings to review the findings with the community.
