Old Town Splash Park

Lewisville, TX

VIEW ALL PROJECTS

An initial conceptual study was undertaken to explore the transformation of the Old Town Aquatic Park Swimming Pool into a vibrant community spray park. The aim was to infuse the space with captivating aquatic elements, turning it into a premier destination facility. Rooted in the rich history of Old Town, the vision combined modern color schemes with the park's natural ambiance while prioritizing features for enhanced accessibility and inclusivity.

Several design options were crafted through this process, each tailored to provide construction estimates and projected operational expenses. On June 17, 2023, the City of Lewisville proudly unveiled the rejuvenated Old Town Splash Park, formerly known as the Old Town Aquatic Park. This comprehensive renovation was driven by a desire to address declining engagement and lifeguard shortages.

The revamped Old Town Splash Park now offers an invigorating and easily accessible aquatic experience for the Lewisville community. While leveraging the existing layout and infrastructure, every feature within the park is brand new. Spanning 13,700 square feet, the design incorporates five nature-inspired above-ground features alongside four splash zones and a shaded area featuring a dedicated splash zone.

The project involved converting an existing swimming pool into an extensive splash pad, repurposing a portion of the existing pool's recirculation and sanitation equipment. A design challenge was confirming the grades and slopes of the splash pad surface to align with existing conditions, alongside the intricate hydraulic design for the splash pad features. Custom rockwork features were also coordinated, integrating water sprays from the boulders.

Old Town Splash Park will be available from May 1 through September 30 with no admission fee. Activator buttons allow park guests to turn on the features during park hours.
