In April of 2020, Counsilman-Hunsaker was asked by the American Red Cross to provide consulting services to the Bahamas Red Cross Society (BRCS), who were interested in creating a lifeguard training program on the island to service island hotels, resorts and beaches, and communities.
The purpose of the Lifeguard Program was to provide entry to senior-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services arrive.
The consulting services provided by Counsilman-Hunsaker included a Preliminary Budget Review, Market Survey, Revenue and Business Model, and Transition Plan. Additionally, a Feasibility Study was provided for a potential Bahamas Red Cross Society-operated aquatic facility on BRCS property. The study reviewed three different options for lap and programming pools providing training space for BRCS aquatic programs.
As a follow-up to the consulting services, Counsilman-Hunsaker provided American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Lifeguard Instructor Training to a group of ten instructors.
