Centennial Pool is the home to the high school swim teams, city and masters swim teams, and a competitive USA Swimming private swim team. The six lane, 25-yard pool was built in 1974 and is the only indoor pool in Longmont large enough to host swimming and diving meets. Because of its high usage, having this facility available for public use is important to the city.
In April 2018, the City of Longmont retained Counsilman- Hunsaker and Essenza Architecture to assess the Centennial Pool and its related systems. Counsilman-Hunsaker’s assessment consisted of reviewing the pool system for deficiencies regarding the Boulder and Weld County Public Health Code, Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC), federal laws, and current industry standards. A commentary was prepared to inform the city of any necessary repairs, replacement, or restoration of the pool systems, including identification of issues requiring further intensive evaluation or analysis. Recommendations were made for renovation or replacement of pool systems, including the costs for any modifications, replacements, or required additions.
