In March 2019, Counsilman-Hunsaker completed the renovation of the six lane, 25-meter instructional pool. Upgrades included the structural repair of the pool deck, limited repair of cracked pool interior tile finish, and replacement of the pool recirculation equipment system. The work included replacement of all exposed piping in the equipment room and pool tunnels with Schedule 80 PVC piping, a new horizontal pressure sand filtration system, recirculation pump, pool controller, UV system, flow meters, and the addition of two separate chemical rooms housing a new acid feed pump system and chlorine feed system.

The Jenks Trojan Aquatic Center offers two swimming facilities: a 50-meter competition pool and a six lane, 25-meter instructional pool. The pools are used to accommodate instructional programs such as Water Exercise (aqua aerobics and aqua jogging), Lifeguard Training, Learn-to-Swim programs, Water Safety, and youth swim teams.

In the fall of 2022, Jenks High School in Oklahoma had entrusted the expertise of 505 Architects to collaborate with Counsilman Hunsaker in conducting comprehensive swimming pool audits for the Trojan Aquatic Center and the Trojan Practice Pool, both nestled within the grounds of Jenks High School.

The primary objective of this visit was to meticulously evaluate the mechanical systems, the overall condition of the pools, and the pool environment, specifically for the 50-meter pool. Additionally, a thorough examination was conducted to assess the maintenance and operations of the practice pool, which underwent renovation in 2018. To ensure a comprehensive analysis, alternative mechanical options were carefully reviewed, and an expert opinion regarding the probable construction costs was provided for all recommended repairs.

The natatorium has unfortunately been grappling with air quality challenges, resulting in the corrosion of vital components such as the pool rail goods and bulkhead, as well as other metallic elements within the facility. The mechanical room has experienced significant corrosion issues, which were further compounded by the failure of the acid tube at the feeder. This mechanical space contributes to air quality concerns by introducing heat, chemicals, and moisture from the open tank vacuum filtration/surge system. Consequently, the deterioration of metallic equipment components has rendered approximately half inoperable.

Following this comprehensive assessment, the necessary improvements are anticipated to be thoughtfully packaged for bid and subsequently initiated within the next 2 to 5 years. This progressive step will ensure the replacement of the deteriorated elements, further enhancing the functionality and sustainability of these exceptional facilities.
