In early 2017, the Community High School District 128 Board of Education approved the construction of a new pool at Libertyville High School. The new $21.5 million natatorium includes 34,000 sq. ft. of space with locker rooms, spectator areas, and support spaces. Libertyville High School’s previous pool was built in 1971 and was 25-yards long (just under 23 meters) with a shallow diving area. The new eight lane, 50-meter pool has a deep section for diving, giving the district expanded capacity to host additional athletic programs and competitive events. The pool also features a shallow water area to support P.E. classes. With the addition of the new, upgraded pool, the old pool will be repurposed to create a wrestling room, dance studio, and other physical education spaces.
The project also included renovations to the music wing, lobby/entrance, two-story academic wing and administration area, and the athletic field.
