The Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners (BOPARC) in Morgantown, West Virginia have operated Marilla Pool for over 40 years. The Thrasher Group and Counsilman-Hunsaker were commissioned to provide a swimming pool assessment on the existing condition and develop options for the future of the swimming pool.
The study looked at outdoor pool options where the existing pool is located as well as an alternate location within Marilla Park. The primary focus of the conceptual designs focused on programmable space for lessons and fitness and recreational components such as a zero-depth entry children's pool, a spray pad, 1-meter diving, a current channel and waterslides.
Construction cost estimates were developed along with a projected budget for operating expenses and revenue.
