In April 2018, Marion County commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker to perform a feasibility study analysis for a new outdoor aquatic center. Through this process, Counsilman-Hunsaker was contracted to identify and assess the need for a new aquatic center, develop several options for consideration that meet the aquatic needs of Marion County residents, and develop construction and projects costs to build the facility. Along with the initial capital costs, the annual operational expenses and revenues were projected.
The study provided the leadership of Marion County with the information needed to make an informed decision about moving forward with the construction and operation of a new outdoor aquatic facility that will service the recreational, instructional, fitness and competitive aquatic needs of its residents.
Counsilman-Hunsaker developed three options that all included a 50-meter by 25-yard competition pool, and various sizes of recreational pool layouts.
