In August 2018, Northwestern University celebrated the grand opening of Ryan Fieldhouse and the Walter Athletics Center. The new hub for daily student-athlete experience is a state-of-the-art development center with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.
The Ryan Fieldhouse is a large indoor multi-purpose facility which provides room for major events, such as the university’s annual new student convocation; indoor practice and competition venue for intercollegiate sports and seating for 2,500; space for recreation, club sports, and intramurals; and an outdoor practice field for varsity sports, club sports, and intramurals.

The Walter Athletics Center includes headquarters for Northwestern football, including coaches’ offices, meeting rooms and locker rooms, a football strength and conditioning center including spas and plunge pools, offices for coaches of numerous varsity teams, nutrition center and dining facility, and academic and professional development support offices.
