In 2019, Counsilman-Hunsaker collaborated with the Rohner Recreation and Park District and the City of Fortuna, California, to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed community aquatic center. Commissioned by the Rohner Recreation and Park District, the study aimed to provide critical research to guide the District and City in determining the most effective approach to developing an indoor community aquatic facility. The study focused on evaluating existing aquatic programming and facilities while performing a needs analysis to identify requirements for additional aquatic space and programming that would best serve the community. Proposed options included both six-lane and eight-lane, 25-yard pools, as well as two variations of an indoor warm-water programming pool.
In 2022, the district enlisted Counsilman-Hunsaker once again to update the study, incorporating current market data for construction and operational costs.
Then, in 2023, the district retained Counsilman-Hunsaker to further refine the feasibility study as part of their ongoing efforts to secure funding for the development of the indoor aquatic center.
