The Township of Derry retained Counsilman-Hunsaker to complete an aquatic study to determine the number of competitive swim events that could be hosted by a new aquatic center. The goal of the study was to review the regional and statewide competitive swimming market and provide commentary, knowledge and insight to the Township with the knowledge and data they need in order to make a well-informed decision about the number of competitive events that could be hosted by the aquatic center. Counsilman-Hunsaker’s process included evaluating the number, types and sizes of competitive events which included participation levels, number of events, market rates, and economic considerations. A needs analysis was conducted for all sporting events that would potentially utilize the new facility. In addition, a financial analysis of competitive swimming events was conducted which included projected revenue and usage.
Counsilman-Hunsaker was also retained to design the new aquatic center which will include an indoor stretch 25-yard by 25-yard competition pool, an 5,000 sq. ft. indoor leisure pool, and a 10,000 sq. ft. outdoor leisure pool, along with a 3,000 sq. ft. outdoor sprayground.
