One of the University of North Carolina (UNC) Charlotte’s core values focuses on helping students lead healthy lives. Opened in January 2020, UNC Charlotte’s new University Recreation Center (UREC) is tangible evidence of the university’s commitment to its students’ health and wellness.
Responding to growing student enrollment and demand for recreation, the 151, 000 sq. ft. building offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities thanks to a recreation pool, four multi-purpose courts, group fitness studios, a cycling studio, an elevated running/walking track, and space for cardiovascular and weight training. Outdoor amenities include three outdoor terraces with views of the campus, an outdoor pool, as well as basketball, pickleball and sand volleyball courts.
