In September of 2020, the Village of Wellington commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker to perform a feasibility study analysis to study the existing condition of the Wellington Aquatics Complex which included an outdoor 50-meter competition pool and leisure features such as a spray pad, children’s pool, and waterslide tower, and catch pool. Counsilman-Hunsaker was contracted to identify and assess the need for renovation or replacement of the swimming pool complex, develop several options for consideration that meet the aquatic needs of the Village residents, and develop construction and projects costs to build the facility. Along with the initial capital costs, the annual operational expenses and revenues were projected for several options that included either renovation or reconstruction of the Aquatics Complex at the existing site, constructing a leisure aquatic center and competitive aquatic center at two separate locations, or combining both at a new specific location.
