The City of West Des Moines, Iowa contracted with Counsilman-Hunsaker to study the feasibility of an indoor competition and community-oriented aquatics venue.
With the shortage of indoor 50-meter pools and access to competitive diving, the study explored the key components necessary to provide competitive aquatic sports and offer year-round indoor swimming for the WDM community.
A total of three options were explored that contained various sizes of pools to support competitive swimming, recreational opportunities and aquatic programs. The related construction and operational costs were also projected.
