Impacting all areas of Mountaineer football, the renovations to the Puskar Center Complex consisted of renovating 72,000 sq. ft. of space, plus an expansion of an additional 13,700 sq. ft., revolutionizing the student-athlete experience at West Virginia University.
Project components include a renovated athletic training room with a new hydrotherapy center, an expanded locker room with wider lockers and updated ventilation, expanded office space for trainers and doctors, and a renovated team lounge. Additional spaces include an academic center, a student-athletes’ lounge, coaches’ offices, an equipment room, and a hall of traditions.
Counsilman-Hunsaker designed the new 250 sq. ft. cold water recovery pool, complete with two stairs and underwater seating. The low water temperature helps minimize muscle inflammation, pain, and soreness to quickly facilitate post-workout recovery.
