The Village of Waunakee, Wisconsin retained Counsilman-Hunsaker to study the possibility of a potential aquatic center in the Village. In past master planning, community surveys revealed the community places a high importance on aquatic activities, something that is not currently offered by the parks and recreation department.
The study incorporated community meetings, stakeholder meetings, an online community survey and presentations to the Village Board. Options developed and studied included an all-outdoor option, an indoor-outdoor aquatic facility and an all-indoor aquatic center.
The study developed the capital costs to build the facility and a custom operational plan that identified annual facility expenses and revenue streams such as admissions, aquatic programming, food and beverage and rentals.
